Nuit Blanche Night Out 2011

I got a chance to check out Nuit Blanche while I was visiting Toronto this year.
It is an one night only art event that lasts all night long til next morning.
There are art performances, exhibitions and random acts of interaction from people, which are also fun to see.

It's a free event.
Takes place on the street in downtown Toronto.

October 1, 2011 | 6:59pm to sunrise

I started from Zone A at Wellesley Station.
Walked on Yonge Street from Wellesley all the way to Dundas.

I like the buildings and shops at the area around Wellesley Station on Yonge.
Very stylish. Quite many sex shops...and they are eye-catchy.

Infront Scotiabank info centre at Zone A, the starting point.

It's 7pm already and the crowds just started gathering.
Didn't see any art performances yet at this point.

The guy has a great voice but no audience when I walked in. So I cheered for him.

8. Another Protest Song: Karaoke with a Message
The art performances finally kicked off. This guy was singing Imagine by John Lennon. Great voice! The audience are very supportive.

I thought it looked like a Dr. Seuss Hat.

Souvenir IDs?! ID up to 50% off?!!
What's this? Pretty open about illegal ID aren't they.

At downtown Yonge Street.
Lots of people but pretty safe to walk by yourself.
 The shops are all open.

Yonge Street

It's fun to see how people interacted with this art display of album boxes and book piles.
Some jumped across them, some sat on them, some stood on top and some just took photos.
People are pretty modest about touching the art works.

I didn't see much art performances and displays while walking on Yonge Street.
I wish the art performances and displays can be closer to each other.
The Yonge St. is closed and car free that night. There are plenty of space to use.

It's nice that I got a chance to see downtown Toronto night scene.
So not too bad.
And free coffee is nice too.

*

cheers!
